Turkey Trot

Saturday: Off
Sunday: 30min elliptical
Monday: Weights, abs and a 3mile walk with Kyle
Tuesday: Jogged a short 2.50 miles

So yesterday I wrapped my ankle then headed out for a short 2.50miles to test my ankle. Not sure if it was the wrap but my ankle felt good and I was completely thrilled with that! I think I'm gonna wrap my ankle for the Turkey Trot tomorrow. This is a 5mile run and I plan on taking my time. Not gonna worry about my pace. It is a 100% chance of rain too so I don't want to take any chances on slipping, twisting or do whatever on hurting myself. I will try to get some pics but with the rain who knows!

Thankful for the little things such as, coffee, compression socks, kisses from kiddies, second chances, that extra mile, that piece of cake and for so much more of the little things life gives us!!

Happy Thanksgiving =)

Not now PLEASE!!!

So my 7mile run was wonderful!!! I ran it in 1hr 16mins. Thats good for me. This was a tempo run with a 1 mile slow run, 2 mile at tempo, 1 mile slow, 2 mile tempo then 1 mile slow. I did these miles in the time that I was suppose to except the last mile. I was going a little too fast still and wanted to quit with a half mile still to go. But I didn't. I looked at my Garmin and seen that I was running too fast and so I slowed down just a bit and that helped. So, all in all I couldn't believe that I finished it, enjoyed, and was proud of it!!

Thursday's workout was some serious weights and if felt great! After my run from Wednesday my left ankle on the inside of my leg was a little sore but felt better with a little bit of stretching.

Friday was a 5 mile run and I couldn't wait to get out there. Before my run I did about 20min of light stretching. At the start of my run I didn't feel anything in my ankle. Then about into mile 2 I could feel it but not enough to stop. Then about mile 3 it was there and pretty sore. I kept going until I couldn't go anymore and that took me to 4.30miles. So discouraging!! I have made it thus far into my training plan with no aches or pains......only a little bit of stiffness. I have been icing it and it feels fine just with walking and I'm going to try and do the elliptical later today. So we will see. No running for now at least until Thursday when I run the 5 mile turkey trot! I have also been wearing a brace off and on but like I said it feels fine just walking. I'm wondering if I should wear the brace during my turkey trot? What do you think?

Awesome run!!!

Yesterdays Thankful #4

I am very much thankful for my husband who works very hard and that allows me to be a stay at home Mom!!

Workout

Worked out with weights concentrating on legs. We did step ups with 35lbs in each hand, lunge backs with 30lbs in each hand, side step ups with 30lbs in each hand and we did a few arms. After we left and went to the bike path and ran 4miles. It felt really good to get back out there and since this was the first long run since my 5k, I felt really, really good. Slow, but good!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thankful #5
So thankful for those runs that just feel good and that my body is in that good of a shape that it feels good with it!!
Workout
Today's workout was to do a very slow 5miles. So after a morning of errands I was able to get back around lunch and head down to the bike path. I set my garmin and my Ipod and headed out! At first I was just trying to get a good rythm going and once I did there was no stopping!! I felt really awesome on this run. Breathing was right, legs and feet felt great, and I could have just kept going..........and I did. Only for another mile making it a 6 mile run but it felt great!! If I had runs like this more often I would probably run every single day!!!! My pace was nothing to write home about but that's not what I was after. I was just wanting to get back out there and get it done. So 6miles with an average pace of 11:41!!
Now it's off to get ready for date night!!
Unexpected day off......
Today did not go as I had planned. Ever have those days?? Being a mom to nine kids sure has it's advantages and I do have good days but every now and then there is a not so good day thrown in. That's why I run.... Today I was suppose to do some type of cross-training but it turned into a day off. I'll have to make it up Friday. Tomorrow will be a 4mile run and I am so looking forward to it!!
Thankful #3:
Even though there are very stressful days when it comes to my children, I am still very much thankful that I got chosen to be their mom!
Thankful November....
So, for the whole month of November I am going to blog each day to express what I am thankful for. I will also update my runs and workouts.
Speaking of runs, I went for a planned 2miles and then a 10min walk this morning. This was the first run since my 5k. First though I did boxing and weights with Kyle this morning. So lets go back to last week to update what I have done to this point.
Wednesday: Off
Thursday: Toning and weights w/Kyle
Friday: 45min elliptical then a 15min walk on the TM
Saturday: Elliptical and weights w/Kyle
Sunday: Off
Monday: Boxing and weights w/Kyle then a 2mile run and a 10min. walk
Tomorrow's plan is to do 30min elliptical and then a 10min run on the TM.
How was everybody's Halloween? We had a blast this year!! I only have the younger two who went out this year and my 14yr old girlie dressed up as Taylor Swift but didn't go out. Come on, you know it's way more cool to pass the candy out at this age. I'm not sure if the younger two will even go next year. My thoughts on that is maybe we should just do a Halloween party with costumes and have some of their friends over. We'll see.........here is a pic of...ooohh my...this may be too frightening.......
Thankful November Day 1:
Thankful for a gorgeous morning to run this morning.
Ghost N Goblins 5k report.....
So I wasn't sure if I would be writing this report or not due to the race officials were considering cancelling due to extreme bad weather conditions. There was very high winds, down pours of rain, tornado sirens going off and so on. But by 6pm the weather was a lot better. A little chillier but great for a race.
This was the Ghost N Goblins 25th anniversary and had about 3500 people registered for the race. This was a really, really nice race. They had pizza, fruit, water, live band, best costume awards, and great gift baggies which included a very nice long sleeve running shirt.
I was not sure at all how I would do at this race. Sure, it was 3.1miles and I have been running 5miles but I wanted my time to be better than 34:11.......and it was =) I was able to do the race in 32:12 with a average pace of 10:24. I'm pleased with that and it gives me something to shoot for to do better in the next race.
I know I promised pictures but I didn't take my camera for fear of not knowing what the weather was going to do but I did take this.................
A gorgeous day for a run...
Okay it is a GORGEOUS day for a run but the schedule called for track repeats. Not bad just 4x400's with 4 slow 400's in between with a mile wrmup and a mile cldwn. After about a mile and a quarter it dawns on me that I am NOT wearing my running shoes =( Who does this?!?!?!!!! This is the second time that I have done this to myself!! I normally wear my Brooks running shoes and workout in my Nike shoes. These happened to be the Nike iPod running shoes and these have NEVER worked for me at all!!! They truly bother my feet for some reason and by the end of my run I'm in complete and utter pain!! I did finish with todays track repeats but not without saying a few choice words!!
Before the run I did a few arm's and a few abs. This was after Measuring and pinching........and I. Am. Stoked. My numbers went down a great deal!! I am sooooo thrilled with this that you have no idea. I was getting to the point that I was questioning myself if this running stuff was really working....and well..numbers don't lie and neither do the size of a new pair of jeans =))
I switched my crosstraining day of Wednesday to Friday so on the schedule for tomorrow will be the Elliptical. Not sure how long I'll go but at least 45min.
Have a great day =)
Stop being so hard on yourself!!!
Okay so yesterday was my long run day of 5miles. This run was a whole lot better than last weeks 5miler. I was able to run and get in a groove with myself and it felt wonderful. It was a GREAT run with an average pace of 11:17. Now, for me that is good and definitely an improvement. Then why oh why do I keep beating myself up that other runners can run 5miles so much faster?!?! People who are my age can knock that out at average paces of 8something. I just don't see how they do it! I wanna be one of you! I wanna go do an average pace of even 9something. But I feel like it is so far out of my reach. Even though my run was good yesterday and my pace was decent for me, I was tired and truly felt like I couldn't go on once I hit the 5miles even if I wanted to. I'm not new at this running thing. Yes it's the first time I have actually been put on a running plan and have stuck to it, but I have always ran. I just wonder at this point am I getting better? Am I giving it all I got and pushing myself as much as I can? I LOVE the way running makes me feel!! Even when I don't feel like running but I go out anyway and within a mile or two I am so glad to be out there.
I know I need to do what I can and not be so hard on myself. At one point I was okay with just finishing and feeling proud that I completed my goal run for that day. But now I find myself comparing myself to other runners and I have to STOP! I need to do what I can do and as long as I see some progress then I need to be good with that. This probably sounds like a bunch of mixed rambling but it's just my thoughts.
Today will be at least 60min on the elliptical if not more. Tomorrow is pinch and measure day along with track repeats and weights.
Wonderful weekend...finally
So here I am with two of my favorite girls! My sons girlfriend, Lisa and my daughter Ashley, who is in the middle then me. We happened to be at my best friends daughter's 18th birthday. I love these girls and we had a blast!! It was finally nice to do some laughing and hanging out especially after the last two weeks. It's been a rough road for my Ashley the past couple of weeks and as a Mama it has been a very emotional road. But she is okay and I have no doubt that this time of her life will not only be a part of her past, she will come out even stronger. I love her!!
My workouts have been pretty good and have been nice to lean on considering the past few weeks. My 5miler on Tuesday was absolutely awful!! Looking back there were many things that came into play that I should have known better of what NOT to do. I didn't hydrate well at all, I hadn't ate anything since breakfast at 7:00am and was running at Noon, I had on the wrong shoes, and it had been an emotional morning. But I have put that behind me but not without learning a few lessons.
Wednesday was 60min Elliptical and abs.
Thursday was upper body and track repeats with Kyle
Friday I was off
Saturday was a 4mile run with average pace being 10:51. It was a WONDERFUL run and the weather was perfect.
Sunday hopefully will be some time with the elliptical and the treadmill.
Monday boxing w/Yoga...
Monday's around here are generally like any other day to me. But not today! Just a few Monday blahs going around and really not sure as to why. So, to help make me feel better, Kyle and I did boxing and yoga. Loved it too!! The boxing was great to relieve some pent up stress and then we ended it with some relaxing yoga. Was WONDERFUL!!
Tomorrow's workout will be a 5 mile run. I've loaded some new songs to the ipod so I am ready!! '
Saturday, October 9, 2010
Still going...
Today's workout was weights, abs, and ran 4 miles. Average pace was 10:52 so doing a little better. The weather has been wonderful to run and I plan on taking full advantage of them.
Thursday, September 30, 2010
Pretty rough
Today's workout consisted of 6x 400's. We ususally start off with a slow run to warm up and thats about a mile then we start our 400's. We run a pretty decent pace a 400 the run slow for 400 until you get to 6 fast 400's then we do another slow mile cooldown. Today was pretty darn rough I'm not gonna lie!! I started out all peppy but after the 3rd 400 I was wanting to throw up! But I finished and finished strong too!! I just remember during the cooldown run that my body hurts and if it's like this at 4.5miles then how will I ever be able to do more mileage?!?! But, I know I wasn't in my right frame of thinking and that this is all part of the training. I'll get there and I'll be fine. Friday is a rest day....can I get a WOOT!! WOOT!!
No happy endorphins here!!
Workout: 60min Elliptical
I had such a hard time with this mornings workout!! 60min on an elliptical is like.....AWFUL!! And this is what I looked like when I was done! And I was soooo glad to be done!
Not 5 miles...
Okay so in yesterday's post I put that today was going to be a 5 mile run. Nope it was a scheduled 4.5mile run. When I woke this morning it was doing a light drizzle. By the time the girls were due to get on the school bus it was raining a little harder. Therefore, I decided to do my run on the dreadmill. It actually wasn't that bad. I did a 11:19 average pace and sprinted the last 200. All in all the time went pretty darn fast.
So, I stretch and text Kyle my time and that I did my run on the dreadmill just for him to respond with his time and that not only did he run in the rain, he was also dragging from the baby waking him up at 4:20am. Wow =( Nothing like making you feel like a big fat whimp!! Whateve!! =)
Tomorrow's plan will be 60min elliptical with abs!!
It totally AMAZES me that my body is able to do these runs and even though I get tired towards then end (aren't we suppose to?) I still feel very strong!!
Monday, September 27, 2010
Catching up...
Wednesday was 45min Elliptical and then as a special treat Mr. P and I went for massages=)
Thursday was track repeats (2x1000's) with Kyle
Friday was off
Saturday was cross training with Kyle
Sunday very early was a 4mile run. Average pace was 11:18.
Monday was cross training with Kyle
My run of 4miles Sunday was absolutely AWESOME!! I got out there at 7:30am and just ran the neighborhood. Was so nice not dealing with traffice. I ran in my neighborhood which I ususally don't do. I loved it and the weather was just wonderful!!
Tomorrow's plan is to run 5miles.
Tuesday, September 21, 2010
Beautiful run
Today's run was for 4.5 miles with a pace of 11:56. I got the girls on the bus and headed down to the bike route. All I can say is that it was such a beautiful run!! My pace was a little fast for what was called for which was 11:21 average pace and it should have been the 11:56. Oh well!! It felt good and I really could have kept running too! The morning was cool and just made it that more enjoyable.
Tomorrow's workout will be 45min on the elliptical then some abs.
The weight has been lifted...
This past Saturday was my Aunt Shawnda's wedding where I was her Matron of Honor. I tell you I have a new respect for that!! That's some hard work there girls! She was gorgeous and it was truly a wonderful day. I feel like a ton of weight has been lifted from my shoulders though;)
Workouts:
Saturday- Crosstraining with Kyle(yes I worked out before the wedding)
Sunday- Ran 3.5miles pace 11:22
Monday- A whole lot of boxing with Kyle and a little bit of weights
My World is Right....
So on Tuesday I went to Gatlinburg with nine of my homies like we do every year at this time. We usually stay 4-5 days and just relax, drink tons of coffee, eat, shop, watch movies, talk, and sleep!! It's WONDERFUL! We all left Tuesday morning and come back Saturday. However, I had to come back Thursday due to being in my aunt's wedding. So, my getaway didn't last long but I am looking forward to seeing this gal get married....finally;) Alot of people always ask me how do 10 women get together and spend that much time with eachother without killing one another. Well this group of women has just always clicked. We range in age from early 30's to early 50's. We can all sit and talk and laugh until the wee hours of the morning. I'm not sure as to why our group clicks but I'm thankful that it does. We can go for days, weeks even, and not talk due to life's busy schedule but when we do talk it's like we just pick up where we left off. We are always there for one another too!! There is nothing that I wouldn't do for them and I know (because they have proven it time and again) there is nothing that they wouldn't do for me! I love my homies =)
So, now on for a recap of my working out schedule and what has been done.
Sunday: 4mile run on bike route
Monday: Worked out with Kyle
Tuesday: Off
Wednesday: Off
Thursday: Track repeats.... 10min wrmup run, 400 plus 2 800's then a 10min cdwn run
Friday: 45min. Elliptical
My plan for tomorrow is to workout with Kyle then Sunday is a 3.5mile run. The days have been nice and cool which makes these runs so much more enjoyable. I love running outside and all the smells of Fall.
My 5k is the Ghost and Goblins run on October 26th at 6:30. This is a very fun 5k from what I hear and has a great turnout. My big question is this.....Should I go in costume and if so what shoud I go as?? Hmmmm.....any thoughts?
Loving this training schedule
Sometimes it's just nice having a workout schedule. Just knowing what days are going to be runs and what days are going to be cross-training days. Today was a scheduled 4mile easy pace run. I had played in a sand volleyball tournament yesterday so I wasn't sure how my legs were going to handle the run. It wasn't too hateful. I really worked at trying to keep at my set pace and it actually was perfect. My legs felt a little like they had some heavy weights in them but once I set out and got my body into a nice comfortable pace it wasn't too bad.
I also listened to my ipod this time around. That was nice for a change and it made for the run to go by faster. Do you ever have those runs that you kinda dread getting out and doing but it turns out to be one of your better runs? That wasn't tonight but almost. I have had those runs though that I would have given anything to not have to do but did and they turned out to be one of my greatest runs. Even on those bad runs though, I truly love it when I'm done and glad that I have ran.
Tonight I was reading one of my favorite blogs over at Shut up and Run. Beth has been very inspiring to me. Like tonight she talks about mentally getting yourself ready for a long run. And I truly believe she is right. Once you get yourself mentally prepared for your long run it truly helps. Thanks for being such a great motivator Beth!!
Three Things Thursday
1) Finally got to workout this morning! Had to take a few days off from my routine due to dental work...blah!! But today I worked out with Kyle doing light weights and very light cardio.
2) Finally went to get fitted for my matron of honor dress!! Ummm the wedding is a week from this Saturday....Yea!! Nothing like cutting it short!!
3) Took my oldest daughter Ashley a chocolate cake to her work today!! Just because=)
Tomorrow's workout will be track repeats: 10min warmup mile then 400's x 5 at about 10:43pace. In between slower 400's at about 11:56pace. Then a 10min cool down. This will be my first time doing them by myself and on the treadmill. I usually do these with Kyle. So, we will see how it goes.
Loving it
This morning as I was outside on my side porch drinking my coffee, I was just itching to get out there and start my run. Today's scheduled run was for 4 miles and believe it or not, I was pretty excited!!
I finished my coffee and had a quick bowl of oatmeal. The temp outside was 50 degrees and sunny. Once my coffee and oatmeal settled I got my running clothes and shoes on and headed out. I got to the bike route about 8:45a.m. There were a few people already there getting ready to ride their bikes. There was one guy there that had just finished his run and it looked like a good one. I got my garmin out, set it, and then took off. I made sure that I kept myself at a nice consistant pace and making sure that I wasn't trying to speed up. This was probably one of the best runs that I have had in a while. Everything just felt good. The weather, my breathing, my legs, just all fell together and made of a GREAT run. My average pace was 11:17. Getting a little better.
Tomorrow's workout will be 45min or 60min on the elliptical.
Saturday, September 4, 2010
Finally!!
Ohhhhhh this weather is just PERFECT!! Right now the temp is 61 degrees with a breeze!! I love it! Too bad this isn't a run day because this is my kinda weather to run in!! Oh well.
Yesterday's run was 3.5miles and my average pace was 11:25. I had to fight to keep that pace because I was finding myself wanting to run faster. The weather was overcast with a bit of humidity but not hot. The air was just a little thick.
Today's workout is weight training with Kyle.
Thursday, September 2, 2010
Clearing my head
So last night I went with Kyle to the bike route to do our track repeats. I was a little nervous about doing these tonight(well each time they are on the schedule I get nervous) because of the heat and they were to be a little longer. Once we set out though it wasn't bad at all. The heat was probably the worst of it!! I need to figure out a way of getting over the fear of when we add more mileage or longer track repeats. Kyle says I just need to clear my head and just do what I can do. Easier said than done but I do have to try. I often wonder what other runners are thinking of when they go to run. Are they thinking the same thing? Oh well, I guess it's just something that I have to work on. So here is last nights workout...
Track repeats total miles 3.5
Today's workout was weights and abs.
Wednesday, September 1, 2010
Wooohooo!! Welcome September
September is finally here!! YAY!! However, the heat did not leave with August...ugh!! I love September! It's the sign of Fall to me and I love EVERYTHING about Fall!! The change of the trees, the cooler temps, getting out all the Fall decorations, you name it I love it!! I am looking forward to the cooler temps too!!
Monday's workout was a scorcher and I pretty much hated every minute of it! The plan was for a 3.5miler with a 11:58 pace but it wound up being a average pace of 10:51. I had to stop for a couple times just to catch my breath. The humidity was just so thick and I have such a hard time breathing in it!
Tuesday's workout was 45min easy elliptical and then 13 laps in the pool. Not too bad for a cross-training day!
Tonights schedule is suppose to be track repeats. I'm a little nervous because today is another hot and humid day. The plan is to go a little later in the evening so hopefully that will help. Tell ya how it goes tomorrow=)
Catch up
Just thought I would get on here real quick and do some catch up on posting my workouts. Today is Sunday and so far has been a nice and relaxing day. Just as it was meant to be with church this morning and some of the kids home for Sunday dinner and a swim. Love it.
Wednesday's workout:
Track repeats with Kyle
Thursday's workout:
Weights and abs with Kyle
Saturday's workout:
Ran 4miles at a 11:20 pace....
Saturday's run was one of those runs that I was kinda dreading but knew it had to be done. However, once I got started it was wonderful. It was late enough that the sun wasn't beaming on you and you could already feel a slight cool breeze. I made sure to start out at a very slow pace and then let my body take over the run. I know my pace isn't as fast as most but I felt good that it was better than it has been. I have to remember that I purposely made myself stay at a slow pace even though I wanted to go faster. But if I had done that I probably wouldn't have felt as good as I did after the run. So, hopefully the more I train, my pace will get better.
Needing some Happy Endorphins
Well today was the day the kids got on that big yellow bus and went back to school. They were happy and Mama was happy. The day was, of course, still hectic but it was so nice knowing that I didn't have to worry about the girls. I actually made it up to Up and Running to get fitted for a new pair of running shoes....YAY!! Did some laundry and did a little shopping and played some on the computer....not bad for the first day back to school. Tomorrow I have several things scheduled, or well my hubby does, there is a Pedi, Mani, and a massage on the schedule finished up with a lunch at Brio. Hmmm yea I think I might be able to handle this=)
Workout:
60min Elliptical
I'm very proud of Me
So this morning's run was a 3.5miler!! I had a zillion things to do today and wasn't sure where I should fit it in. Not just fit it in and be done, I wanted to give this longer run some time. I wanted to be able to enjoy it and let it be. Plus, this was going to be my first run that I have went out and ran by myself. Yea, I have done a couple of short runs here and there by myself around my neighborhood but not for this long. So I got myself up early and drank my coffee and headed out the door at around 8a.m. drove down to the bike path and started in. I was to keep my pace at 11:58 but well that didn't happen. I felt good and so my pace stayed around 11:24. I know that is still way slow for some but for now that part doesn't bother me. I just want to get out and get some miles under my belt. The run was absolutle fantabulous!!!
I was able to take a pic of my run as I was running...it's so gorgeous down there!! After my run I finished up my workout with abs and weights with Kyle.
Awesomeness
Today's scheduled run was for 3 miles and was to go a little like this...first mile was to be a very slow pace, second mile was to be at a pace of 11:43 then the last mile was to be at a very slow pace. I was able to get out there this morning around 9 o'clock and it was perfect. The humidity was a little high but other than that the run itself was really great!! My overall pace was 11:15 but again it felt good. Not sure how that will work with what was scheduled but for me it was a great workout. So 3 miles in 33:46...I'm good with that!! Monday is suppose to be 3.5miles....we will see how that goes!! The weather is suppose to be perfect all next week so I'm kinda excited to see how I do on my runs. I'm gonna try and start taking a few pics of where I run so you can see a little bit of what I see on my run. So...later taters=)
Finally a break!!
Yesterday's workout:
Weights and abs with Kyle in the a.m.
Ran 3 miles outside in the p.m., avearage pace 11:46
Wow!! Finally we are getting a little break from the hot and humid weather that we have been having this Summer. There's even just a little hint that Fall is right around the corner......and THAT makes me happy!! I went down to the bike route and did my run yesterday around 7pm. Was so nice and where I run, the path is nice and shaded. The run wasn't what I would call a great run but I didn't stop and my pace was a little better than Saturday's pace. For some reason my legs just felt really heavy especially my calves. But I was so glad that I went (but I am always glad) and that I didn't stop. Please tell me it gets easier!
Today's workout will be a 45min elliptical
Have a great day!!
Did I or didn't I??
So as I posted earlier this morning that it was already 77 degrees at 6:30am only meant that it was going to get way hotter for my run. And. it. did. =( We didn't get out and run until after 10am this morning and I truly did not think I would be able to do it. Well maybe the actual run I knew I could do but it was the breathing and the heat! Awful I tell you!! But, I did it=))) Yay me!! I was so slow but I did it!! My average pace was 11:54....soooo totally sucks!!! But my time was not my goal. My goal was to just get out there and run.......and that I did!! I wanted to see what I could handle in this heat and how my breathing would do. The first 2.5miles was not too hateful but that last bit was just plain awful!!!! I can so see me running down there and especially this Fall! Was a very nice covered bike path with lots and lots of trees. Truly a nice change for sure! Tomorrow will be a rest day then back at it again on Monday. It is suppose to start cooling down a bit next week so hopefully that will help with my time a little bit.
Until later.......
Workout:
Ran outside 3.1miles time 36min some odd seconds
77 degrees at 6:30am!!!!
Just want it to be known that it is 77 degrees at 6:30am and I have a small run on the schedule!! I know, I plan on sucking it up and getting out there anyway! Just wanted it known................(Sigh)
Gotta get out there.....
So the kids will be going back to school in a week and it will be nice to get back on a routine. The kids are pretty excited about going back too! Are we normal? We can't wait for the kids to get out of school so we can all play and we are good until about the end of July...then we are all out of sorts and we just long for a little bit of a routine. So they are excited, mama is excited, the dog and cat is excited...lol all is good. The last few days have been getting school supplies, labeling the school supplies, putting the school supplies in their bookbag as best we can, and all while trying to survive this redonkulous heat!!! I so invision myself this Fall running miles and miles as soon as I get the girls on the bus. Well maybe not miles and miles, I would settle for 3-5 miles....at first. I so want to get out there and get going with building my miles up again. It's great to have a plan right? But until then I will do what I can when I can even if it is super duper stinkin HOT!! =)
Yesterdays workout:
Boxing with Kyle
Abs, legs, chest
Today's workout was with Margie:
Ran the hill 2 full times 2 half times
Arms, lite abs, some legs
Small run
40 min. elliptical
Tomorrows plan is to try and go out and run a couple of miles early with Kyle and do some weights. So quick question...how do you beginners of running handle your runs in this heat? What do you do to prepare? Any helpful tips or suggestions would be appreciated. =)
Rest Day
So this morning I was suppose to get up early and go for a short run. Welllllll when I got up at 7:30 this morning it was already 78 degrees.....YIKES!! So, I opted for a rest day. We need those right? As the day has gone on I am so glad with that decision too. I go at my workouts pretty hard and with this hot, hot weather I just couldn't do it today. So I have spent my time doing little things like cleaning the pool, going to get the girls from grandmas, working on school stuff......the list can go on trust me.
So tomorrow will be sprints and weights with Kyle and then later in the evening I might add a 30min elliptical. So until tomorrow have a great rest of the day =)
Todays workout was suppose to be running the hill but the temp is soooo hot and and the heat index is off the chart!! So it was an inside workout today. My plan for tomorrow it to go out and run early if I can.....we shall see.
Loving morning time....
So this morning I woke up around 6:30 but didn't get up until 7:00. Morning time for me is awful until I have my first cup of coffee, then things start looking a little better. This morning's cup of coffee was enjoyed outside sitting here...
This rocking chair gets visited at least 2-3 times a day. I love it and I especially love it in the early morning hours while all is still sleeping and you can only hear the wonderful sounds of nature. While sitting there and drinking my coffee I was trying to decide if I wanted to take a short run this morning before Kyle got here to do weight training. As much as I wanted to I felt like my body really did need a break from cardio. I have done cardio every day this week. So, as gorgeous and tempting as it was I decided not to. I am looking forward to when the first days of Fall get here and the kids are back at school and I can get out there and run. I am normally not the person that goes outside and run by myself. I have a few times but I just really never felt comfortable in getting out there by myself. My goal is to GET OVER IT!! So we will see.
I also enjoyed a great bowl of fiber oatmeal with cut up bananas and a spoon of almond butter.......yummmmO!! So now it's off to get ready for a good weight workout. Have a great day =)
Todays workout...
So this morning my friend Margie and I ran "The Hill". This hill is so stinking hard it takes your breath away!! I love the fact of having somebody to run it with though!! Makes it so much nicer and it's always nice spending time with her.....even when she is yelling at me about how much she HATES the hill! We ran the hill three full times one half time and then to the first level. In between these runs we would do things such as abs, fast squats, walking lunges, pushups, front elbow plank, arm circles and jumping jacks. After that she had to head to work and I decided to try out my new Garmin.
I didn't go too far because my legs were still burning from the hill though. I ran a mile and a half and my best pace was 8:21. It was so nice being outside for a run and can't wait to get out there more once Fall time comes. I am not too good in the hot humid weather that we have been having.
I'm pretty new to this blogging and keeping up with it so just bare with me. I LOVE reading blogs and have some favorites. These blogs really inspire me and reading them makes me want to be better.
Tomorrow the plan is to workout with Kyle doing a weight routine. Have a great Friday!!
Worn down!!!
So yesterday's workout was a ROUGH one!! I felt like I had been beat down and then stayed that way the rest of the day!! We did.....wait, I did sprints yesterday on the treadmill and it was already 83 degrees at 8am =( Sprints were 20/10's with the starting speed of 8.8mph!! I did ten in a row then took a 2-3min walk then did another six. Was suppose to do 3 sets of 8 but yea NO!! I'm truly a person who tries to appreciate the seasons but come on, how can you keep appreciating this heat?? Fall where are you?? Please hurry!!
Today's plan is to run the hill, abs, arms, legs but we will see. I will post today's workout tonight.
Thursdays workout:
20/10 sprints first set 10 second set 6
Weights
Wednesday, August 4, 2010
Ewww....
So today's workout was ummmm very sweaty!!! Ewwww!!! Today was another scorcher and just so you know....I'm so done with it!! I'm ready for Fall! Anywho....todays workout was a 60min sport intervals on the elliptical. Where I have my elliptical has no air condititioning at all. Just ceiling fans. So by the time my 60min was up.........I was a mess!! Tomorrows plan is sprints and weights.....yay!!! NOT!!! =)
Hot and Humid..
Today was so hot and humid that when it was time to go for the workout I was seriously having second thoughts. Margie and I were suppose to run the hill and do abs and legs tonight. However, when we got there they were having some kinda get together or event on the hill. There were tons of people and a live band. So we just walked/ran and then did our abs and legs. When we were done we were done we ran over to get soup and a salad then came home and she did the treadmill and I did the elliptical. We both were so drenched it wasn't even funny. Tomorrow is gonna be just as bad so I will have to get my workout in early!
Todays workout:
Walk/Run with abs, and legs
30min Elliptical
Monday, August 2, 2010
Wow are you serious??
So here I am making good on my promise to do a better job at blogging. Over the weekend I didn't workout those were my rest days. Was kinda good but you really pay for it when you do workout. I might try splitting up the days when I only do 5 days of workouts. My eating on Sunday was AWFUL!!! It was like nothing was satisfying me and I couldn't get full. Oh well I guess you have those days. Lets just hope those are very far and few in between.
Todays workout was hard but so glad that I was pushed and that I finished.
Workout with Kyle:
Sprints 4 sets of 4 40/20's at 8.5....such a love hate relationship for sure!!
Then we did tons of abs, squats, and push-ups.
Now it's off to Youngs Dairy with the family =)
Keeping it real...
So here I am...again. I know I pretty much suck at this blogging thing. However, I've decided that I'm gonna try and do better. I want to try and post my daily workouts so that I can keep track of what I'm doing. My plan is to do some 5k's, a 10k, and a half marathon then maybe a full marathon and all by next September 2011. I'm not a fast runner and have no plans to try and be one. I just like knowing that I can get out there and run. Right now I can do 5 miles and it takes me right at about 56min. If I naturally pick up my speed then, well that will be great. But my goals might be a little different than some of the other runners I know and for right now my goal is to just get out there and then journal about it. So hopefully I will be able to look back and see how far I have come.
This past weeks workouts:
Monday: Sprints and weights in the a.m. then 40min elliptical in the p.m.
Tuesday: Ran the "HILL" and then did arms, abs, legs in the a.m. then ran 3miles in the p.m.
Wednesday: 90min elliptical
Thursday: Sprints and weights
Friday: Ran the "HILL" along with arms, abs, legs, then ran 2miles on the treadmill
Not a bad week if I say so myself!! The plan for Saturday and Sunday is to take it easy....Have a great weekend=)
